Time’s ticking
We are working towards a 40-working day turnaround from receiving an application to granting a licence which, in normal circumstances, we are confident of achieving. However, if you delay submitting your applications and we are inundated with a large number of applications, our target turnaround will not be met as we are dependent on other government departments and agencies for their input into each application.
To date we have received five applications, with 56% of workshop attendees telling us they intended to apply in the next month! More importantly, from the advisers’ perspective, Immigration New Zealand will not accept applications from onshore unlicensed advisers from 4 May 2009.
INZ Adviser Activity Record
To obtain your Immigration New Zealand (INZ) Adviser Activity record you will first need to obtain your client ID from INZ. INZ has advised that applicants should contact their local branch or the INZ national call centre to ask for the client ID for their company. It is important that you ask for the client ID for your company, not your individual client ID number or your clients' ID numbers. Once INZ give you this number you should then email IAA-Agent-activity@dol.govt.nz and request your Activity record.
Client files
If you are applying for a full or limited licence we will accept client files which are still in process with INZ as long as a minimum of two client files which show a full end-to-end process and INZ decision are also submitted. If you provide any client files where a decision has not been made by INZ we would expect to see an acknowledgement from INZ that the case is in progress and we will be looking for evidence throughout the rest of the file that you meet the competency standards. Please choose your files carefully to ensure that they are a good representation of your business processes and your ability to meet the competency standards.
Workshops help application process
Our next three Auckland workshops are on 8 July, 22 July and 28 August. The 8 July and 22 July workshop are full. Feedback on the workshops through your evaluations has been very positive, with 96% of attendees feeling better prepared to complete their application.
Supervision Policy on the web
The Authority’s Supervision Policy is now available on our website under the Important Documents heading in the Key Information tab. The Immigration Advisers Act 2007 requires anyone holding a provisional licence to work under the direct supervision of a fully licensed immigration adviser. In addition, applicants for a provisional licence must submit a supervision arrangement for approval by the Registrar. It is important that applicants for a Provisional licence – and their nominated supervisor – are fully aware of the requirements of the Supervision Policy, particularly with regard to Roles and Responsibilities, the Supervision Arrangement and the Keeping of Records.
