The New Zealand Immigration Advisers Licensing Act aims to provide greater protection for migrants. Anyone based in New Zealand and providing immigration advice about this country must have a licence (unless they are exempt). Licensing for overseas immigration advisers is compulsory from 4 May 2010.
Immigration New Zealand now refuses to accept applications or requests on behalf of clients from unlicensed immigration advisers within New Zealand, unless they are exempt. After 4 May 2010, this will also apply to offshore immigration advisers.
If you and your family want to start a new life in New Zealand, or are already in New Zealand and need immigration advice, then you have several options. You can talk to people from the exempt group or you can consult a licensed immigration adviser for a trusted, professional service. You may even choose to complete the immigration application yourself.
