What is the difference between median and average fee?
The median is the middle number of the average fee provided by advisers.
The average is calculated by dividing the total fees by the number of advisers.
This means that if for example, the median is lower than the average, that there are some very high fees at the top end of the range of fees which has resulted in the average being inflated by these figures.
Why do fees vary?
The fees charged by a licensed adviser may vary due to a number of factors, such as:
- The adviser’s experience
- The degree of complexity of an application
- The level of personal service provided
- Current market place fee levels.
Licensed advisers may also charge disbursements, such as photocopying, phone calls and couriers. These charges are not included in this information.
