It is illegal to give immigration advice without a licence. If you are aware of anyone doing so, you can report them to us using Part B of the Making a Complaint About an Immigration Adviser form.
If you are in New Zealand unlawfully, you can also complain to us.
The Immigration Advisers Authority is separate from Immigration New Zealand. We will not share any information you give us with Immigration New Zealand (except if the law requires us to).
We are here to protect all consumers, whether they are here lawfully or not.
We will assess the information you give us, and prosecute serious cases. People who give immigration advice without a licence can be fined up to $100,000 and/or go to jail for up to seven years if convicted.
Remember:
You don’t have to be the person who has received the immigration advice to make a complaint. You can make a complaint on behalf of someone else or get someone else to make the complaint on your behalf.
