Make a complaint

If your adviser has been licensed within the last two years, you can make a complaint using the process below. If your adviser is not a licensed immigration adviser or on our list of exempt persons, go to report an offence.

Complaints process

You do not need to have received immigration advice yourself to make a complaint. We accept complaints from anyone.

Complaints can be made on a number of grounds including:

• dishonest or misleading behaviour
• negligence
• incompetence, as judged against the Authority’s Competency Standards
• incapacity
• breaching the Code of Conduct

Complaints about licensed immigration advisers are heard by the Immigration Advisers Complaints and Disciplinary Tribunal.
