Information for licensed immigration advisers

Now that you are licensed, you have a responsibility to maintain your professional standards by meeting the Competency Standards, adhering to the Code of Conduct and taking an active role in continuing professional development (CPD). One of the Authority’s key functions is facilitating the education and professional development of immigration advisers.

Great response from licensed advisers to November code of conduct workshops – more details

Introduction

The Authority will be delivering free one-day workshops during November 2009, focused on the licensed immigration advisers code of conduct.

The workshops will examine in depth the application of the code’s statutory obligations and the Authority’s policies, by working with examples that reflect issues that advisers encounter in practice.

This is an important opportunity for advisers.  Attendance at a workshop will help you to ensure that your business operation is compliant with the code and the Authority’s policies before you apply for your licence renewal.

The Registrar recommends that every licensed immigration adviser attend a workshop.

Workshop details

We are limiting the number of people attending each workshop to ensure plenty of personal attention and time for discussion and questions.

The workshops will deliver five units of teaching, as follows:

On 22nd October we mailed a booklet of preparatory reading material to all advisers attending workshops. Offshore advisers attending these workshops will also receive a PDF version by email. Please contact Alex at the Authority on (04) 915 4722 if you have not received your copy of the reading materials by Wednesday 28th October.

The workshops will be held in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch on the dates in November set out below. The Auckland and Hamilton workshops are full, though we may be able to accommodate a few last-minute registrations at these workshops. There are a few places available at workshops in Wellington and Christchurch.

The workshops will run from 8.30am to 5.15pm. Tea and coffee will be available at the venue from 8am, and morning tea and coffee will be provided, at approximately 10am and 3pm. The lunch break will be approx. 45 mins, from 12.15pm. We won’t be providing lunch. There are cafés available either at the venue or nearby.
