Licensed Immigration Advisers Code of Conduct 2010

The code of conduct exists to regulate the behaviour of licensed immigration advisers.

It imposes on them the duty to act in a competent and responsible manner in the lawful interests of their clients and addresses standards of professional and ethical conduct for licensed immigration advisers.

These rules (see tabs on right) clarify a licensed immigration adviser’s obligation to clients, reasonableness of fees and provision of consumer complaints procedures among other responsibilities.

If a licensed immigration adviser breaches the code of conduct, a complaint can be made to us. This may be referred to the Immigration Advisers Complaints and Disciplinary Tribunal where, if upheld, can lead to sanctions ranging from caution to licence cancellation and compensation.
