Make a complaint

If the adviser in question has been licensed within the last two years, a complaint can be made using the process below. If the person who gave the immigration advice to your client is not a licensed immigration adviser, go to report an offence.

Complaints process

You can make a complaint on behalf of your client.

We accept complaints from everyone including advisers, lawyers or relatives of the complainant.

Complaints can be made on a number of grounds including:

• dishonest or misleading behaviour
• negligence
• incompetence, as judged against the Authority’s Competency Standards
• incapacity
• breaching the Code of Conduct.

Complaints are heard by the Immigration Advisers Complaints and Disciplinary Tribunal.
